Ocean Scientists for Informed Policy (OSIP) is led by graduate students at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) at UCSD who want to see good science used to make well-informed policy decisions that affect the oceans. Each year they travel to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). I co-founded this group in 2012 and helped assemble an interdisciplinary team. We created a web series to document our experiences at the Conference of the Parties (COP), and the important global policy issues related to the oceans. I led our media effort, including writing blogs, creating videos and social media. The web series lasted two years, for the COP19: Warsaw, Poland and the COP20: Lima, Peru.
